The new 3.0 litre turbo diesel engine produces 170kW of power and 620Nm of torque. Those numbers sit below the current hybrid Tank 500’s 255kW and 648Nm, but the diesel’s maximum torque arrives much lower in the rev range than the current HEV, making it a stronger performer for predictable pulling power and off-road capability. With a massive 385Nm of torque available from just 1000rpm, the engine delivers substantial pulling power from idle, giving immediate, confident response whether you’re towing, climbing, or conquering any off-road terrain. Fuel System and Capacity
A 2000 bar high-pressure common rail fuel injection system underpins the new engine’s performance. Fuel capacity stands at 78-litres, with a 53-litre auxiliary tank available as an option on the Overland derivative, giving serious range for long-distance and off-road travel.
Drivetrain and Towing
The new engine is paired with GWM’s in-house 9-speed automatic transmission and a four-wheel drive system, built to put that low-end torque to good use both on and off the road. With a 3.5 tonne tow capacity, the Tank 500 is well suited to caravanners, trailer owners, and anyone who regularly moves work equipment.
