In recent years Haval and GWM have become household names. The build quality of their vehicles is starting to pique the interest of consumers from all sections of the vehicle market.
An article done by timeslive.co.za reported that the Haval Jolion sold 951 units in September alone and the Haval H6 logged an impressive 295 units. This data was collected from Naamsa Automotive Business Council.
GWM and Haval are also joining the Hybrid market. With climate change and increasing topic of conversation vehicle manufacturers are adapting to meet the needs of the ever-growing hybrid market. Back in March of 2021 Haval unveiled the all-new Haval H6 Hybrid. Steven Wang, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at GWM had the following to say at the show. “One of our biggest highlights at the Bangkok International Motor Show this year is the world premiere of All New HAVAL H6 Hybrid SUV. Thailand and Thai people are the first market and the first group of consumers to get the closer look of this model. The All New HAVAL H6 Hybrid SUV combines a complete range of cutting-edge innovations and technologies with distinctive design.”
Since its launch the Haval H6 has sold over 3 million units worldwide and this pace shows no sign of slowing. The number of Haval vehicles are increasing month after month. Haval grew 24.65 back in July. This may not be at pre-pandemic levels but this still a remarkable achieve for any brand.

With all the excitement around The GWM P-Series we thought it might be worth taking a look at the History of GWM. As far as features go the H6 C is jam packed. How does it drive?

Recently a group of motoring journalists headed off to the picturesque location of Hermanus to view something a little different than what the area is popular for. These journalists were there to experience the official media launch of the all new Haval H2, which officially launched at the end of January 2020 after a very popular first reveal in 2019 at the Festival of Motoring. Underneath, the new H2 is largely unchanged from the previous model featuring the same 1.5 Turbo engine, chassis and gear box configurations as well as suspension. However, the interior and styling is another story. The new H2 features a new hexagonally shaped grill, new front and rear bumpers as well as fenders and new arrow shaped headlights with LED technology on the Luxury model and a new hexagonally shaped taillight. The rear also features a new chrome strip, a realigned reflector with a raised protection strip as well as larger twin exhaust pipes and a new splitter plate all coming together to form a more dynamic, sporty and aggressive design. The wheels feature an all new 5 spoke 18-inch design rounding out what is a sexier, more stylish vehicle than its predecessor.
Internally the new H2 features a trendy, convenient, modern and user-friendly layout for a more pleasurable driving experience. The addition of Apple Carplay is a welcome gadget as well for the modern-day driver. The new H2 is available in two specification levels namely City and Luxury, with both offering a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic transmission so inadvertently you have four model options to choose from in one of seven colours. Pricing for the new Haval H2 starts at R269900 for the base City Manual model and hitting a ceiling of R329900 for the top spec Luxury Auto model. A mere R5000 or so more than its predecessor.
Gerhard Horn from Leisure Wheels was quoted saying:” One stand-out attribute worth mentioning is the noise, vibration and harshness levels. Driving along the coastal roads near Betty’s Bay and Kleinmond, we were completely unaware of how severe the wind was on the outside. It had no noticeable effect on the car’s handling and noise levels were impressively low.”
Sean Nurse from Autodealer added, “It is easy to see why the H2 has been so successful for the Chinese automaker, it offers a great value proposition, is practical and well specified.”
“Overall the H2 is a very good value proposition that provides a long list of standard features put together in a premium package and in a tightly contested segment it’s easy to see why they are so popular.” That’s what Willem van de Putte from IOL said after his time with the H2.
